On Monday, August 31, the Los Angeles Police Department assigned body cameras to its first patrol division. As the second largest city in the United States, this new policy is a significant, if insufficient, move towards the prevention of excessive police force and racial profiling. From Yahoo News: “The nearly 9,900-member LAPD is the nation’s third-largest metropolitan police force and the biggest to commit to equipping all its patrol officers, numbering about 7,000 personnel, with bodycams.” New York City has already implemented the use of body cameras, though many say the program needs to be refined. Chicago, too, has launched its own pilot program. One day after “the mayor of Milwaukee proposed spending $880,000 to equip his city’s entire force,” the LAPD launched its own game plan...

But here in south Florida, some 3,000 miles away from the West Coast, Mother Nature’s elements are anything but familiar. Crews from Bakersfield braved the elements as they patrolled a stretch of power line right in the middle of a swamp. “We were warned about the hazards in there, things that we aren’t used to back in Bakersfield, like water snakes and alligators, so we have a sharp eye out for that and carried shovels with us,” said lineman Tim Moore. Thankfully, they didn’t spot any gators but the hazards are real and that’s why PG&E stresses employee safety each day. Said Tyler Gayski, a Sacramento-based ...

The overhead aerial advantage gave Marra the strategic situational awareness needed to adjust his tactical and operational deployment of firefighting personnel, equipment and apparatus, expediting its extinguishment. University Avenue, a main thoroughfare through East Palo Alto that runs between Bayshore Freeway and the Dumbarton Bridge, was shut down for several hours as the fire was brought under control by 6 pm and all units were able to clear the scene by just after 7 pm. The origin of the fire was a homeless encampment and the cause is suspicious and related to some form of human action. The case is under investigation by the Menlo Park Police Department and there were no injuries.

This Sticky Boom demonstrator was assembled in just over a week by Mike Judson, myself (Jonathan Goff), Harsha Prahlad, Steve Traugott of CD International, and Chris Biddy of Stellar Exploration Inc. We built this in order to have hardware to demonstrate at the NASA Technology Day at the Capitol Hill Visitors Center in Washington DC on March 15th. Altius was the youngest of the 13 groups presenting there, which included groups like Robonaut 2, and NASA MSFC's Nanosail-D team (which used the same style of deployable boom as we did. The boom deployer came from Stellar Exploration, and was the first prototype of their LightSail-1 triple cubesat-based solar sail deployer (developed for The Planetary Society). The electroadhesive gripper was a fixed-geometry design that SRI put together. The motor, motor controls, and plastic case were done by Altius personnel at Steve Traugott's shop in Santa Clara, CA. The case was laser-cut acrylic done using an Epilog laser cutter at Bojo Inc's facility two doors down from where Masten Space Systems started in 2004.

One day after “the mayor of Milwaukee proposed spending $880,000 to equip his city’s entire force,” the LAPD launched its own game plan. Mayor Eric Garcetti released a statement emphasizing that he is optimistic about the impact of the body cameras: “It will enhance accountability, build more trust with the communities we serve and give officers a cutting edge tool in their efforts to keep Los Angeles safe.” Still, the American Civil Liberties Union has serious critiques. While they “[support] the use of body cams,” they contend that the “LAPD plan [is] flawed because the department has not pledged to automatically released footage, even in high-profile shootings.” The program thus lacks the total transparency required to enact meaningful change across a nation riddled with police violence — particularly violence against America’s black population. This is an important step that will hopefully act as a positive influence. But we still need so much more. For the more than 100 PG&E linemen working to bring a slice of normalcy to the millions of Floridians recovering from Hurricane Irma, the job of restoring power is second nature. Said Tyler Gayski, a Sacramento-based safety specialist, “It’s a conversation we’ve been having daily with the teams.” In all, about 125 PG&E IBEW Local 1245 line workers, equipment operators, supervisors and support personnel are helping Florida Power & Light (FPL) respond to the havoc caused by Irma. FPL and PG&E have a mutual-aid agreement. In Irma’s aftermath, FPL reported some 4.4 million of its customers lost power. Besides unusual wildlife, the PG&E crews are also working in high humidity and sweltering heat. “We are pounding the water,” said Paso Robles foreman Jose Tirado. “It’s an experience for me having to deal with this much humidity.” It’s all in a day’s work as these crews continue their mission of helping those in need. “It’s worth it to have to go through a little bit of uncomfortable situations,” Moore said. “There are people here without power and they are in uncomfortable situations and it’s our job to get that power back on.”

Law enforcement officials arrested 30 people and seized drugs, firearms and several vehicles Saturday during a series of raids across the Bay Area that were carried out to dismantle one of the region's most notorious and violet gangs, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The first of the raids occured in the 1400 block of Camellia Drive and Gardenia Way in East Palo Alto, about 7 a.m. It was part of the larger operation involving around 500 city, state and federal personnel at about 30 homes in East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, San Jose, Emeryville, Gilroy, Sunnyvale, Oakland, San Mateo, Redwood City, Hayward, Belmont, Fremont, San Leandro and Newark. According to residents in the East Palo Alto neighborhood that was raided, smoke bombs were detonated, doors were broken and fences tore down as part of the operation there. Neighbors watched in surprise as local humane society officials confiscated pit bulls from homes on the block. The arrests stemmed from an 18-month-long investigation into the so-called 'Taliban' gang that was sparked by an increase in violence, East Palo Alto Police Department Capt. Carl Estelle said Saturday near where the raid in his city took place. Authorities said the group used the name 'Taliban' for shock value. The East Palo Alto and Menlo Park-based 'Taliban' gang formed in 2002, an off-shoot of a smaller gang called the Midtown Hogs, in response to a conflict between the rival Sac Street gang, authorities said. The Taliban gang started with 10 members but grew in size and force when the Sac Street gang was dismantled by police in 2006 in "Operation: Disrupt and Dismantle." "(Saturday's raids) will result in dismantling one of the most notorious gangs in East Palo Alto," Police Chief Ronald Davis said at a news conference following the raids. "I'm confident that this will have a positive effect and reduce violence in East Palo Alto. But tomorrow is a new day and we will target a new gang." Menlo Park Police Chief Bruce Goitia called the raids "the most significant operation in the last 20 years" in securing the safety and quality of life of his community. Members of the 'Taliban' gang consist of men ranging in age from from about 20 to 60 years old who wear green camouflage, police said. Its members have been arrested for at least 237 crimes and are suspected of being involved in at least 12 homicides, as well as 30 violent felonies including armed and strong-arm robberies in the Bay Area over the past six years, according to FBI Special Agent Joseph Schadler. "We're trying to dismantle the gang," Schadler said. "They're a bad bunch of folks." East Palo Alto police Detective Ed Soares said the gang routinely traffics cocaine and other drugs and uses weapons such as high-caliber handguns and semi-automatic rifles to terrorize the community. He noted that the methods used by this group and other street gangs have become increasingly sophisticated with the advancement of technology, making them more difficult to target. "It's a constant cat and mouse game," Soares said. Those arrested in Saturday's raids were slated to make court appearances on Monday in federal court in Oakland. The suspects were identified by the FBI as: Alfred Washington, 42 Amanuel Hinruy, 22 Andre Anderson, 33 Anthony Pratt, 33 Christine James, 30 Darrel Snowden, 28 Delin Cole, 20 Dontae Gardner, 32 Emiliano Morfin, 22 Gary Carter, 33 James Bagby, 24 Jason Fitch, 26 Jason Reese, 27 Javier Yepez, 22 John Schofield, 19 Juan Lopez, 20 Kevin White, 30 Lonnie Brown, 22 Marcus Lewis, 29 Nathan Farris, 25 Nathan Gardner, Jr., 36 Raymond Richard, 29 Rajnesh Lal, 26 Rodney Mason, 19 Sharmaine Porter, 30 Stoney Gipson, 24 Tahir Millener, 30 Towanna Deldridge, 29 Vianna Powell, 40 Warren Jordan, Sr., 47

A Dalton man who reportedly fired shots from a rifle into the walls of a home after an argument with his girlfriend turned himself into police at the scene Thursday night. Christian Morales, 19, was originally thought to be barricaded in the home at 1413 Kammi St., sending SWAT teams and specialized personnel into action after the original call around 4:30 p.m. Dalton Police Department spokesman Bruce Frazier said Morales left the scene before police arrived. Police officials were able to contact Morales by phone and he returned to the area and turned himself in. Morales has been charged with two counts of terroristic threats and acts, and further charges are possible. Frazier said the shots were not aimed at anyone. He did not identify the type of rifle. “It was not aimed at anybody," Frazier said. "He was not trying to shoot anybody. He was just shooting at walls, and also some shots might have been fired outside of the home. Right now, I don’t know how many shots. We will have some officers on the scene for a while. Other charges are also possible." Morales, an unidentified female driver and a male occupant of a BMW were handcuffed when Morales returned to the scene, but Frazier did not know if there were any charges against those two. Frazier said police responded between 4:30 and 5 p.m. to a call of shots fired and a possible barricaded suspect. "Early indications are that the incident began as a domestic incident," according to a release from the Dalton Police Department before Morales returned to the area. "The suspect apparently became angry during an argument with a girlfriend and reportedly began firing shots with a rifle into walls and also outside the house. Nobody was hit. The girlfriend left the house safely," Officers set up a perimeter around the house and closed Needham Drive near the home. Frazier said Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office deputies and the Georgia State Patrol SWAT team also responded. “Fortunately we didn’t end up needing them to take any kind of action, but that is standard procedure when you have a reason to believe you have a barricaded subject who is armed and has fired shots,” Frazier said.

Edwin Shanahan at the Menlo Park, NJ Veteran's Home tells about the Army's 754th Tank BN at Guadalcanal which is known largely as a Navy and Marine battle with the Japanese. In his full interview - of which parts will be posted later- he tells us the Marines were not fully prepared with equipment such as tanks for Guadalcanal (this was very early in the war), so his Army unit - (the 754th Armored BN) shipped out with them. In battles on Guadalcanal, Edwin was present and saw the action that earned Sgt. John Basilone one of his several awards for gallantry. Edwin also received a silver star for action that day. Basilone is remembered for his Medal of Honor, awarded for action at Guadalcanal. Basilone Day in Sommerset, NJ commemorates his memory. He died early in the fight for Iwo Jima. In THIS clip - Mr. Shanahan relates the surprise of Adm. Halsey placing a silver star on an ARMY!! soldier at Guadalcanal. ME3TV Producer: Vic Campbell

Incorporated on April 12, 1913,[4] the city was designed by its founders to be uniquely residential, with expansive properties surrounded by beautiful gardens, wide streets, and well maintained parkways. The city is located in the San Rafael Hills. The population was 13,147 at the 2010 census. In 2014, Forbes magazine ranked the city as the 48th most expensive area to live in the United States.[5] In 2014, LA Weekly ranked the city as the 3rd most expensive area to live in the Los Angeles County, topping Beverly Hills (7th), Malibu (5th), and more.[6] There are no homes priced under US$1,000,000, with the median list price of a single family home at US$3,000,000.[7] In 2017, Bloomberg ranked the city number 78 in the country with the 2015 "Average Household Income" of $207,276 as "America's 100 Richest Places". In California, the city ranked number 18 and in Los Angeles County, the city ranked number 5, topping Beverly Hills. [8] Landmarks[edit] Huntington Library, in a landscape setting by Beatrix Farrand San Marino is the location of the Huntington Library and gardens. In 1919 Henry Huntington provided limited access to the art collections, and to the rare books and historical documents, housed in the library and in his large NeoclassicalPalladian mansion, as well as to the surrounding botanical gardens, all collectively known as "The Huntington Library, Art Collections and Botanical Gardens", or "The Huntington", to the public.[18] View of the Old Mill from rear courtyard El Molino Viejo ("The Old Mill"), completed about 1816 as a grist mill for Mission San Gabriel Arcángel, is in San Marino. The original two-story structure measured 53 feet (16 m) by 26 feet (7.9 m). It is the oldest commercial building in Southern California.[19][20] The town is located on the former lands of the historic Rancho Huerta de Cuati.[21] The Edwin Hubble House: From 1925 to 1953, this two-story stucco home was the residence of one of America's greatest 20th-century astronomers, Edwin Hubble, who, among other accomplishments, discovered extragalactic nebulae and their separation from each other. It is a National Historic Landmark.[22] The Michael White Adobe House, is located on the high school campus and houses the San Marino Historical Society archives.[23] The University of Southern California owns a house in San Marino which is used as the residence of the President of the University. The residence and grounds are often used for University Presidential events. Rotary Centennial Clock in San Marino, California Across from City Hall is the Centennial Clock, standing at the northeast corner of Huntington Drive and San Marino Avenue, donated to the community in 2005 by the Rotary Club of San Marino in celebration of Rotary International's 100th anniversary. Dedicated on July 4, 2005, the nineteen foot high clock includes a time capsule with artifacts donated by residents and community organizations which is to be opened on July 4, 2039 to mark the 100th anniversary of the Rotary Club of San Marino.[24] In the middle of San Marino lies Lacy Park, a 30-acre (120,000 m2) expanse of grass and trees. Originally named Wilson Lake in 1875, the land was purchased by the city in 1925 and dedicated as a park. Families in San Marino have enjoyed the park for years. A picnic area is often the site of musical concerts, civic events and pancake breakfasts. Within the park are two walking loops: an inner loop of approximately 3/4 mile in length, and an outer loop of approximately 1-mile (1.6 km) in length. Dogs are welcome with their owners, providing they are on a leash.[25] In recent years, proposals from SMHS alumni Brent and Derek Barker to build a dedicated dog park on the unlandscaped western edge of the park have been shelved due to strident opposition from some of the city's elderly residents.[26] The park includes six championship tennis courts and a pro shop, administered by the San Marino Tennis Foundation. At the west entrance of the park is the Rose Arbor, which is of special significance for the people of San Marino. It is sixty years old and has long been a source of beauty and tranquility to many residents. In recent years the care and upkeep of the Rose Arbor itself has been augmented by private donations from residents who have chosen to sponsor individual posts.[25] The park recently built a memorial to General George S. Patton (a native of San Marino) and also a large memorial to the Armed Forces along with a statue of a sad soldier. The memorial includes the names of all military personnel from San Marino.[19]

Go to our Webpage http://charityforlife.jdrftype1.com The land now known as the City of Menlo Park was originally the home of Ohlone Indians, called by the Spaniards Coastanoans, or Coast-dwellers. These local residents lived off the land peacefully, gathering nuts, berries and fish from both the ocean and the bay. Because of the abundance of food there was no need for them to practice agriculture. Evidences of their civilization are still being unearthed on the Filoli estate in Woodside, and along San Francisquito Creek. Spanish rule came to this area in 1769 when the exploration party led by Don Gaspar de Portola camped near El Palo Alto after their momentous discovery of San Francisco Bay. The colonizing of the Peninsula began after the expedition of Juan Bautista DeAnza passed through Menlo Park on its way to establishing Mission Dolores and the Presidio of San Francisco in 1776. The mission padres, explorers, military personnel, travelers and settlers occupied certain areas, developing and populating the land. As a reward for their contribution to the settling movement, some of these pioneers were granted huge portions of land by the Spanish and, after 1822, the Mexican governments. The largest land grant on the Peninsula was the Rancho de las Pulgas, an area of 35,260 acres, awarded to presidio comandante Don Jose Dario Arguello in 1795 by Governor Diego de Borica, and endorsed in behalf of his son Luis Arguello in 1820 by Pablo Sola, the last Spanish governor of California. It extended north and south from San Mateo Creek to San Francisquito Creek, and east and west from San Francisco Bay to today’s Canada Road in Woodside. The present boundaries of Menlo Park would be within this rancho which became part of the new State of California. She is perfect in every other way of life. Despite T1D, Aaron won’t trade anything in their present life. Grace’s family supports her every minute in her difficult disease. Aaron is a board member of JDRF walk and their main aim is to cure and the ultimate mission is to find the cure and to free every man, woman or child from T1D. However, in meantime they need to come up with new and improved technologies. Artificial Pancreas and encapsulation are being developing in the meantime. The quality of life has been greatly improved thanks to JDRF research team. JDRF research team has worked out many technologies which can treat T1D and Aaron believes that soon the prevention will be worked out too. Aaron is waiting for a sort of a vaccine against T1D. Type 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, a hormone people need to get energy from food. T1D strikes both children and adults at any age and suddenly. Its onset has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. Though T1D’s causes are not yet entirely understood, scientists believe that both genetic factors and environmental triggers play a role. There is currently nothing you can do to prevent it, and there is no cure. Type 1 diabetes strikes both children and adults at any age. It comes on suddenly, causes dependence on injected or pumped insulin for life, and carries the constant threat of devastating complications. Diabetes can affect how you feel each day. If your blood glucose level is too high or too low (hypoglycemia), you may not feel well. Health Care & Social Assistance sector comprises firms providing health care and social assistance for individuals. The sector includes both health care and social assistance because it is sometimes difficult to distinguish between the boundaries of these two activities. The industries in this sector are arranged on a continuum starting with providing medical care exclusively, continuing with those providing health care and social assistance and finally finishing with only social assistance. The services provided in this sector are delivered by trained health practitioners and social workers with requisite experience. Since its founding more than 40 years ago by parents of children affected by type 1 diabetes, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) has been committed to finding a cure for all those individuals living with the disease. Today, JDRF acknowledges that this commitment will not likely be fulfilled in the near term. Although our ultimate goal—curing type 1 diabetes—remains unchanged, we are equally committed to better treating and preventing the disease. These goals aim to ensure that both children and adults living with type 1 diabetes remain healthy so that they can fully benefit from a cure when it becomes available. JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact..

Media Credits Column http://broadcaster.beazil.net/public/credits/youtube/videos/151766 JDRF works towards a day when there is no more type 1 diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is usually diagnosed in children and young adults, and was previously known as juvenile diabetes. In type 1 diabetes, the body does not produce insulin. Diabetes - is a problem with your body that causes blood glucose (sugar) levels to rise higher than normal. This is also called hyperglycemia. When you eat your body breaks food down into glucose and sends it into the blood. Insulin then helps move the glucose from the blood into your cells. When glucose enters your cells, it is either used as fuel for energy right away or stored for later use. In a person with diabetes, there is a problem with insulin. But, not everyone with diabetes has the same problem. The Health Care and Social Assistance industry includes establishments and services such as: hospitals, nursing and residential care facilities and out-patient care centres; offices of health practitioners (i.e. dentists, doctors, optometrists and chiropractors); medical and diagnostic laboratories; home health care services; ambulance services; social assistance services (i.e. for children, youth, the elderly, families); community food, housing, emergency and relief services; vocational rehabilitation services; and daycare services Insulin is injected subcutaneously, which means under the skin. In this type of injection, a short needle is used to inject a drug into the tissue layer between the skin and the muscle. Medication given this way is usually absorbed more slowly than if injected into a vein, sometimes over a period of 24 hours. Insulin should be injected into the fatty tissue just below your skin. If you inject the insulin deeper into muscle, your body will use it too quickly. This can lead to dangerously low blood glucose levels. People who take insulin daily should rotate their injection sites. This is important because using the same spot over time can cause lipodystrophy. JDRF’s research mission is to discover, develop and deliver advances that cure, better treat and prevent type 1 diabetes (T1D). As the global leader in the fight against T1D JDRF’s research programs are comprehensive — addressing the hopes and dreams of every person with T1D for the best quality of life and a cure for this disease. https://jdrf-kentucky.ejoinme.org/gala Alfred Gerriets II sponsor https://issuu.com/southcomm/docs/lnfoc_april16/60 fund for the arts Juvenile Diabetes Indiana JDRF has led the search for a cure for T1D since our founding in 1970. In those days, people commonly called the disease “juvenile diabetes” because it was frequently diagnosed in, and strongly associated with, young children. Our organization began as the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Later, to emphasize exactly how we planned to end the disease, we added a word and became the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.Today, we know an equal number of children and adults are diagnosed every day—approximately 110 people per day. Thanks to better therapies—which JDRF funding has been instrumental in developing and making available—people with T1D live longer and stay healthier while they await the cure. Subscribe at our..

Tags:- www.narendramodi.in , www.facebook.com , Narendra Modi's personnel Life , Our Great Prime minister Mr. Narendra Modi In answer to a question about family values by Mark Zuckerberg, CEO and founder of Facebook, at his Menlo Park headquarters in San Jose, Modi had everyone’s eyes welling up when he spoke about his early life and how his mother helped bring the family up even though there was not much food or water to drink, and he had to help the family with all kinds of jobs. “When we were small, to sustain us she cleaned dishes, filled water, did laborious work at the neighbouring houses. You can imagine a mother in order to raise her kids underwent so much hardship,” Modi said in a choked voice amid hushed silence at the event. After a pause, he slowly regained composure, and carried on: “It’s not just the case with Narendra Modi, many mothers in India sacrifice their entire lives for their children,” he said. This was soon after Zuckerberg told him his parents were in the audience, and Modi greeted them warmly. “I’ve my mother who is over 90 years. Even today she does all her work on her own. She isn’t educated but because of television she is updated with the news, what is happening in the world,” he added.
